How do I invite a Facebook friend?

Click on "Relatives". In the first box in the right column, click "Add Relatives who use Facebook". A list of facebook friends will appear. Begin typing the name of your friend or family member in the bar labeled "Start Typing a Friend's Name". Check the name or names of the people you would like to invite and click "Send Relative Request". To unselect a name, click on the x next to the names listed in the bottom box.

Can I only invite family members who have Facebook Accounts?

For now, you can only invite family members that are already your friends on Facebook. In the near future, we'll open up the site to allow anyone to join regardless of whether they are a member of Facebook or not.

Is there a way to invite family members with just an email address?

My "Relatives" doesn't show anything. How do I add Family members to the page?

Click on the "Add Relatives who use Facebook" link to add more of your relatives.

What does "Awaiting Confirmation" mean?

After you send a relative request, your relative is automatically added to your Relatives list. However until that relative confirms the relationship they are listed with "Awaiting Confirmation".

How do I add a relationship to my relatives?

Click on "Relatives" and a list of your relatives will appear. Next to each relative without a relationship will be "Add Relationship". Click on it to have a box appear where you can add a relationship. After you're done click "Save".

How do I edit my relationship to a relative?

Click on "Relatives" and a list of your relatives will appear. Next to the relationship for the relative is an "Edit" button. Click on it to have a box appear where you can edit the relationship. After you're done, click "Save".

How do I delete a relative?

Click on "Relatives" and a list of your relatives will appear. To the right of every relative will be an X. Click on the X to have an option to delete the relative appear and click "Remove".

When I try to access a relative's Facebook profile I get sent here. How do I access their Facebook profile?

You can always see all of your relatives' profiles straight through Facebook -- we don't block any of those. The links you're clicking on are in the Relatives box we provide that go to our application and not to the Facebook pages for them. You can tell this box by the FamilyLink banner on it. An easy way to get to the Facebook pages for them is to search for their name in the box in the upper right hand of Facebook.

I am not related to a suggested possible relative, how do I get you to stop suggesting them?

Whenever a possible relative is suggested on FamilyLink.com, across from their name will be an X that turns red when you hover your mouse of it. If you click this X we will remove this person from your possible relative list.

How do I get a Familylink.com box on my Facebook profile to display my relatives?

To add a Familylink.com box on your Facebook profile you have to first add the FamilyLink.com application on Facebook. You can do this by searching "FamilyLink.com" in Facebook. Once in the FamilyLink.com application along the top green bar will be a grey button to the right that says "Add to Profile".

How do I get a Familylink.com tab on my Facebook profile to display my relatives?

To add a Familylink.com tab on your Facebook profile you have to first add the FamilyLink.com application on Facebook. You can do this by searching "FamilyLink.com" in Facebook. Once in the FamilyLink.com application, go to your Facebook profile and click the + to the right of your last tab. Then click on FamilyLink.com, or search for it in the search box.

How do I edit the information I entered at sign up? (Name, birth date, email)

FamilyLink.com is still in beta and we are still working out some design issues. We're aware that an edit feature is not available at this time and will have one available soon.

I can't login!

Please send an email using the "Contact Us" button at the bottom of the page detailing what happens when you try, your operating system, browser and what version of that browser you are using. We are looking into the matter and will resolve it as quickly as we can.

How do I drag and drop a relative into the tree?

To drag and drop someone into the tree, you click on them in the list of relatives to the left of the tree and then drag them to an immediate family member in the tree. When the relative is directly in front of the immediate family member, the box of the immediate family member will turn green, this is when you want to release your mouse and drop them. You will then have the option of assigning the relative as the parent, sibling, child or spouse of their immediate family member.

How do I add parents, who don't have FamilyLink.com accounts, to the tree?

First click on the child so that the box they are in gets larger and then click the "Edit Info/Add Family" button. This will pull up a box where you can edit their info; above the box will be a button that says "Add/Edit Parent". Click this button and it will pull up a new box where you can fill in the information for one parent and then click "Add Spouse" to add their second parent.

How do I add children, who don't have FamilyLink.com accounts, to the tree?

First click on the parent so that the box they are in are in gets larger, then click the "Edit Info/Add Family" button. This will pull up a box where you can edit their info, below their box will be a box to list children, below that will be a green + followed by "Add Child" click this to add a new child.

How do I add a partner/spouse/other parent to children, who doesn't have a FamilyLink.com account, to the tree?

First click on the partner already in the tree so that the box they are in gets larger and then click the "Edit Info/Add Family" button. This will pull up a box where you can edit their info; next to their box will be another box that says "Add Spouse". Click this box to have it change so that it looks like the first box but the information is blank. Fill in the information. Between the two boxes is "Married" and then a down arrow. Click on the down arrow to change "Married" to the appropriate relationship.

How do I add more than one partner?

First click on the partner already in the tree so that the box they are in gets larger and then click the "Edit Info/Add Family" button. This will pull up a box where you can edit their info; one of the data fields will say "Spouse". In this data field will be a pull down menu and a green +. Use the green + to add additional spouses and then use the pull down menu to switch between which the spouses to edit or add children.

How do I delete someone from the tree?

Click on the box of the person that you want to delete and watch as the box expands. Then click on "Edit Info/Add Family" which will bring up a box to edit their information. There will be an X in the top right corner of the box of the person that you want to delete, click on it and then confirm that you want to delete them. After the entry has been deleted if the entry was dragged over, the relative will return to the list of relatives that can be added.

How do I edit someone's information in the tree?

Click on the box of the person that you want to edit and watch as the box expands. Then click on "Edit Info/Add Family" which will bring up a box to edit their information.

How do I add extended family to the tree?

Follow the instructions above to add a parent, child or spouse for your parents, their parents, your siblings, your children or any other people in the tree you want to extend from.

Can my Family see my tree?

At this time they cannot see your tree but we intend to allow you to share your tree with your relatives in the future.
